Join Wigan Council as a Statutory Compliance Inspection Officer Electrical Are you an experienced electrical professional looking for a role where your technical knowledge can make a real difference to electrical safety across a large and varied property portfolio?
Wigan Council is looking for a Statutory Compliance Inspection Officer Electrical to join our compliance team and support the delivery of robust electrical safety standards across Council properties.
You will undertake electrical inspection, testing and compliance activities across, corporate, education and communal properties
, together with electrical vehicle charging points (EVCP) and associated electrical infrastructure.
Reporting directly to the Statutory Compliance and Building Safety Electrical Manager
, you will play a key role in ensuring the Council’s electrical compliance programme remains effective, robust and up to date.
You will:
- Undertake electrical inspection and testing of single-phase and three-phase installations
. - Inspect and assess EVCP installations and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Plan and manage your own inspection programme and diary to ensure statutory deadlines are achieved.
- Review, validate and quality assure Electrical Installation Certificates (EICs), Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificates (MEIWCs) and Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs).
- Assess the quality and accuracy of electrical certification provided by contractors and other Council work streams.
- Identify non-compliances and ensure remedial actions are appropriately managed and completed.
- Maintain accurate electrical asset, certification and compliance information within C365
. - Undertake post-work inspections and contractor quality assurance audits.
- Interpret inspection and testing results and provide technical advice on complex electrical issues.
- Provide advice and guidance to contractors, consultants, officers and other stakeholders.
- Challenge poor workmanship, incorrect certification or non-compliant practices where necessary.
- Support continuous improvement of the Council’s electrical compliance arrangements.
