Electrical Design Engineer – Wigan area
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum
The company specialises in the design, supply, installation and commissioning of all aspects of logistic, line control and handling equipment within the manufacturing and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors. They continually improve their designs to create tailor-made and innovative solutions for their customers in the Food & Beverage, Healthcare and Homecare markets, ensuring that each customer receives the best quality in product and service.
The role offers 20% overtime. There is also the opportunity to be involved in 30% Panel Builder activity and 10% in charge of purchasing all equipment related to projects.
We are currently looking for candidates who want to make a difference and who wish to be part of our dynamic organisation in our UK office.
Responsibilities- Create new design drawings on E-plan and Auto Cad
- Design:
Develop schematic diagrams, panel layouts, 3D models and wiring diagrams for electrical control systems - Component selection:
Specify components including PLCs, HMIs, sensors - Documentation:
Generate bills of materials and technical documentation - Compliance:
Ensure designs comply with relevant safety standards and electrical codes - Update electrical drawings and PowerPoint and other documentation
- In charge of purchasing all equipment related to all projects
- Maintain daily track of missing orders
- Weekly follow up with various suppliers
- Maintain track of inventory
- Ability to manage many different jobs at any one time using own and Directors judgment to prioritise
- Manage company resources through effective and appropriate use and maintenance of equipment, tools, supplies, phones, and energy
- Ability to travel 20% of the time (domestic and international) to various client sites
- High school diploma required;
Bachelor of Applied Sciences preferred - Math, physics and science at A Level or equivalent
- 3 years Apprenticeship ONC/HNC is a plus; prior industry experience
- Must be able to perform work assignments that are technical, involving judgment and independent thinking
- Experience with different voltages (24V AC/DC; 240V AC; 415V AC)
- Reading & understanding of electrical & mechanical drawings
- CAD experience; knowledge of EPLAN is a plus
- Knowledge in conveyor systems, robot systems, PLC programming (Siemens / Allen-Bradley) and HMI programming (Siemens / Allen-Bradley) is a plus
- Experience working away from home
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office and other Windows packages)
- Strong customer communication and project management skills, especially for European installations teams during larger projects
