A day in the life of a Murphy Principal Engineer:
- Responsibleforthedaytodaymanagementanddevelopmentofateamofengineers
- Responsibleforthedeliveryofalltechnicaldrawingsandreportsforthedetaileddesignphaseoflinearinfrastructureprojects(steeltransmissionpipelines&plasticductsfor
HVcables) - Responsiblefordeliveryofconstructabilityreportsassociatedwithlinearinfrastructureprojects
- Responsiblefordelivery Pre-FEEDandFEEDstudiesassociatedwithmajorpipeline/HVpowercableinfrastructureprojectsinthe
UK, - TechnicalsupporttoplannersandestimatorsduringFEEDstudies
- Leaddesignriskassessments
- Checkingandapprovingoftechnicaldesignreports
- Projectreportingandcoordinationofdesignactivitieswithintheengineeringteam
- Representthedesigndepartment,when necessary,atinternalandexternalmeetings
- Undertakesitevisitswhenrequired,
- Accuraterecordingoftimespentonprojectsandmanagementofteamworkloads,
- Coachandmentorindividualstaffmemberswithprofessionaldevelopment,
- Supportthebidteamswithtechnicalinputintotendersubmissions&developdesignestimatesforinclusionintheoverallsubmission
- Technicalinputinto Trenchless Crossing Designs (HDD’s,Microtunnels&Auger Bores)
- Degreequalifiedin Mechanicalor Civil Engineering
- Charteredwithaprofessionalinstitutionregulatedbythe Engineering Council (orworkingtowards
Chartership) - Familiar with National Gasstandardsfortransmissionpipelinesaswellasother UK,EUandInternationalstandards(E.g.PD8010,BSEN
14161,BSEN
1594etc) - FamiliarwithUKandinternationalstandardsforplasticpipes
- Construction&designexperienceassociatedwithlinearinfrastructureprojects&trenchlesscrossingdesigns
- Experience undertaking Pre-FEED,FEED&detaileddesignassociatedwithmajorlinearinfrastructureprojectsintheUKaspartofthegovernmentsnetzerotargetsfor
2050. - Experienceofconsentrequirementsassociatedwithrail(NWRFormA,B&C),road(CD622) andwatercoursecrossings(EA) is preferred
- Knowledgeandunderstandingofconstructionplant&equipmentusedtoinstallsteelpipelinesandplasticcableducts,
- FamiliarwithgeospatialanalysissoftwaresuchasArcGISorQGIS
- Excellenttechnicalreportwritingskills,
- Someawarenessandunderstandingofenvironmentalrestrictionsinthe
UK.
