The Salvation Army at Atherton is looking for a Caretaker who will be responsible for the care, maintenance and cleaning of our busy church building.

• Care and maintenance of the inside and outside of the building.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, lighting, heating and ventilation to the required standard.
• Unlock and lock the building when required and act as key holder when required.
• Move chairs, tables and equipment as required to fulfil cleaning requirements.
• Maintain records to ensure health and safety compliance.
• Perform small maintenance and admin jobs, liaising with contractors as necessary.

• Awareness of health and safety regulations.
• Experience of cleaning in a professional environment with knowledge of the proper use of cleaning equipment.
• Basic standard of literacy, numeracy and IT skills (e.g. email and online ordering).
• Practical skills for operating a building including the ability to meet the physical demands of the role and basic maintenance skills.
• Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision, including lone working as required.
• Good communication skills with an ability to engage with different groups of people.
• Ability to be flexible with working hours if required.
