The Role
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring plant and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
Diagnose mechanical faults and complete effective repairs
Conduct routine inspections and servicing of plant machinery
Strip, inspect, repair, and rebuild gearboxes, pumps, motors, conveyors, bearings, and shafts
Work closely with production teams to maximise uptime and productivity
Maintain accurate maintenance records
Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment
Liaise with external contractors when required
Follow safe systems of work (LOTO, permits, RAMS, risk assessments)
Maintain high housekeeping standards
Identify continuous improvement opportunities
Flexibility to work shifts and occasional overtime is required to support operational demands .
About You
We’re looking for a reliable, proactive engineer who works well under pressure and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.
Essential Requirements:
Experience with in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment
Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
Recognised mechanical engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent)
Strong problem-solving ability
Good communication and teamwork skills
Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
A positive attitude and commitment to safety are essential .
