PURPOSE

Embark on a pivotal role as a Service Centre Manager at Algeco UK, where you'll be the linchpin of operational brilliance in our factory operations. You will lead and inspire a dedicated team, overseeing the repair, refurbishment, and overhaul of our modular building fleet to ensure units are delivered on time, to quality standards, and within budget. Drive excellence through strategic initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and safety.

Algeco UK is the leader in modular accommodation not only in the UK but around the world. We provide more buildings for hire than anyone else, including modular buildings for sale and rent, and off-site permanent buildings for sale for temporary, semi-permanent and permanent use.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Factory Operations & Production Oversight

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate all repair, refurbishment, and overhaul (R&O) activities for the site.
  • Ensure the efficient flow of units through the workshop, optimising utilisation of resources, equipment, and workforce.
  • Maintain high-quality standards for all R&O work, implementing robust quality control checks and ensuring compliance with operational procedures.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring operational issues to improve quality, throughput, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with other site managers and functions to ensure seamless handover of units to customers.

Operational Planning & Delivery

  • Oversee daily operations to ensure units are prepared on time, to specification, and within budget.
  • Manage production scheduling, resource allocation, and materials planning to meet operational targets.
  • Proactively identify and resolve production bottlenecks to maintain smooth workflow.
  • Implement Lean principles and other best practices to maximise workshop efficiency and minimise non-value-added time.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive Operational Excellence initiatives across the site, ensuring efficient, high-quality, and safe operations.
  • Lead continuous improvement (CI) programmes using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other methodologies.
  • Introduce best practices, standard operating procedures, and monitoring systems to maintain consistent performance.
  • Support the elimination of unnecessary complexity and waste in processes, improving productivity, quality, and customer value.
  • Take ownership of site performance metrics and ensure alignment between operational outputs and business objectives.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Own the P&L for the service centre, ensuring budget adherence and profitability.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Track performance metrics (throughput, quality, efficiency) and take corrective actions as needed.

People Leadership & Development

  • Lead, develop, and motivate a high-performing operational team.
  • Manage recruitment, performance, capability, and career development of site staff.
  • Foster a collaborative, customer-focused, and solution-oriented culture.
  • Ensure training records are maintained, and team members are equipped with the skills needed for operational excellence.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
  • Proven leadership experience in a factory, production, or workshop environment.
  • Strong operational management background, ideally with repair, refurbishment, or manufacturing experience.
  • Skilled in production planning, resource scheduling, and workflow optimisation.
  • Experience with P&L management, cost control, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong commitment to Health & Safety and quality standards.
  • Background in modular construction, manufacturing, or industrial operations is highly desirable.
