Position: Quality Assurance Technician (Permanent)
Quality Assurance (QA) Technician - Food Manufacturing

📍 Wigan | 💷 £25,000 - £27,000 | Site-based | Rotating shifts

If you're the kind of person who spots a label error from 3 metres away, thinks "that doesn't look right" before anyone else does, and gets a weird amount of satisfaction from a properly completed QA record… I need to talk to you.

I'm recruiting for a Quality Assurance Technician role at a busy, established food manufacturing site in Wigan. This is a hands-on QA position working closely with Production to make sure everything leaving site is safe, compliant, and exactly as it should be.

You'll be part of the team that keeps standards high, customers happy, and audits calm (no last-minute chaos please).

💷 The basics

£25,000 - £27,000

Site based (Wigan)

Rotating shift pattern:

Shift 1: 6:00-14:30 Mon-Thurs | 6:00-13:30 Fri

Shift 2: 8:00-16:30 Mon-Thurs | 7:30-15:00 Fri

Shift 3: 11:30-22:00 Mon-Weds | 11:30-21:00 Thurs

What you'll be doing (in real human terms)

You'll be supporting quality and food safety across the site, including:

Keeping QA paperwork accurate and up to date (the details matter here!)

Monitoring product/site quality, hygiene standards and food safety controls

Supporting investigations and customer complaints (root cause + corrective actions)

Helping reduce waste and prevent non-conforming product

Supporting customer visits and technical audits when needed

Being a calm, organised presence when others are flapping

✅ Must haves

2+ years QA experience in manufacturing (food is ideal)

HACCP + Food Safety qualifications (essential)

Confident with documentation, inspections and quality checks

Comfortable working rotating shifts

Sharp eye for detail and the confidence to challenge issues early
