Mechanical QA/QC Engineer

Summary:

We’re looking for a Mechanical QA/QC Engineer to join our team and support quality assurance and quality control delivery on a major UK nuclear new build power station project. This role will suit someone with proven QA/QC experience in mechanical systems, looking to work on one of the country’s most high‑profile construction projects.

Responsibilities
  • Implement project Quality Management System requirements, supporting compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 19443 standards.
  • Review and verify contractor quality plans, inspection plans and method statements.
  • Conduct inspections and surveillance of mechanical installation and testing activities.
  • Monitor and maintain quality records in line with project requirements.
  • Witness testing activities and verify completion of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Manage non‑conformance process, including raising NCRs and supporting root cause analysis.
  • Liaise with construction supervisors, commissioning teams and client representatives to ensure compliance.
  • Support the production and review of lifetime quality records and turnover documentation.
Must‑have Requirements
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in QA/QC roles within major construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and inspection/test planning.
  • Previous experience supporting mechanical installation and commissioning activities.
  • Relevant site safety qualification.
Nice‑to‑have Skills
  • Nuclear new build or regulated industry experience (nuclear, oil & gas, petrochemical, defence).
  • Membership of CQI or IMechE.
  • Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification.
  • Familiarity with RCC‑M, ASME codes or pressure system regulations.
