Job Title: Registered Manager

Location: Wigan

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (DOE) + Annual Quality & Commercial Bonus from £5,000

Employment Type: Permanent

Service: Children's Home

Service Users: Solo placement supporting children and young people with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD)

Qualifications
  • Level 3 Children's Residential Care (essential)
  • Level 5 Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (preferred), or willingness to enrol within 6 months
  • Full UK Driving Licence
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in children's residential care
  • At least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years
  • Strong understanding of The Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation and safeguarding requirements

The Home:

Our client is recruiting an experienced Registered Manager for a specialist solo children's home in Wigan.

The home provides a highly personalised, therapeutic environment where children and young people are genuinely cared for, feel safe, understood and supported to achieve their full potential. The service focuses on developing emotional resilience alongside academic, practical and social skills to prepare young people for adulthood.

As Registered Manager, you will lead every aspect of the home's operation, ensuring outstanding care, strong safeguarding practice and positive outcomes for the young person in your care.

Solo Children's Home (1 bed)

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a passionate, resilient and child-focused Registered Manager who is committed to transforming the lives of children in residential care.

Responsibilities
  • Developing comprehensive, individualised care plans covering education, emotional wellbeing, therapeutic support, health and independence.
  • Building, developing and retaining a high-performing staff team.
  • Creating systems that ensure children are listened to and involved in decisions about their care.
  • Allocating and supporting Key Workers.
  • Maintaining exceptional standards in line with Ofsted Quality Standards and the home's Statement of Purpose.
  • Managing safeguarding concerns, complaints and child protection matters appropriately.
  • Working collaboratively with families, Local Authorities and multi-agency professionals.
  • Leading care planning and review meetings.
  • Creating a positive safeguarding culture where children feel safe and valued.
  • Managing the home's budget and commercial performance effectively.
  • Driving the service towards achieving and maintaining a minimum Ofsted rating of Good
    .
Additional responsibilities
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and budget management abilities.
  • A thorough understanding of trauma-informed practice and managing challenging behaviour.
  • The ability to motivate, coach and develop staff.
