About the Role
Prospero Teaching is looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Tutor to provide one-to-one tuition to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in Wigan. In this role, you will work with students who may have Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), or other learning challenges. Your mission will be to offer personalised, supportive learning tailored to each students individual needs, helping them thrive academically and build their confidence.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver one-to-one tuition in core subjects (Maths, English, Science, etc.) to students with SEN, adapting lessons to suit their unique learning profiles.

Develop personalised lesson plans and use strategies to support both academic development and emotional regulation.

Build a positive, trusting relationship with students to create a safe and encouraging learning environment.

Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to parents, carers, or professionals involved in the students education.

Create and implement strategies to support students emotional well-being and engagement with learning.

Encourage the development of essential skills such as self-regulation, study techniques, and exam preparation.

Essential Requirements

At least 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring students with SEN in a one-to-one or small group setting.

Experience working with students who have Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other learning difficulties.

Right to work in the UK.

Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

Ability to work independently and manage a flexible tutoring schedule.

Desirable Qualifications

QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or relevant teaching qualifications.

Experience supporting students at Key Stage 3 or GCSE level.

Knowledge of effective SEN teaching strategies and resources to promote both academic and emotional growth.

Additional Information

Sessions will typically take place during school hours, with flexibility for after-school or evening sessions depending on student availability.
