Are you looking for a senior HSE leadership role where you can genuinely influence culture, compliance, and long‑term strategy across a large manufacturing site?
Irwin and Colton are exclusively partnering with Innovia Films to recruit a Health, Safety and Environment Manager for their flagship manufacturing operation in Wigton. Innovia Films is a global leader in speciality films, supplying innovative products to customers worldwide across packaging, labels, and sustainable materials markets.
This is a high‑profile leadership role within a complex manufacturing environment, offering the opportunity to shape safety culture across a 500‑person site while leading a dedicated HSE team of seven. The position will work closely with the Plant Manager and wider leadership team to drive continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities- Developing and delivering the site‑wide HSE strategy, driving a proactive zero‑harm culture
- Acting as the site lead for Health, Safety, Environmental, Security, and Compliance activities across the plant
- Partnering with operational leaders to improve engagement, accountability, and HSE standards across the site
- Overseeing compliance with key regulations including DSEAR, PUWER, COSHH, Permit to Work, contractor management, and environmental permitting
- Managing audits, incident investigations, emergency preparedness, regulator relationships, and continuous improvement initiatives
- NEBOSH Diploma, NCRQ, BSC or equivalent HSE qualification
- Experience in manufacturing, process, chemicals or heavy industry environments
- Strong knowledge of environmental and legal compliance requirements
- Experience leading or mentoring HSE teams in a complex operational setting
- Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- Experience engaging with regulatory bodies such as the HSE is preferred, alongside process safety, fire safety, and auditing experience
