Base pay range$17.00/hr - $17.00/hr

Whowe’re looking for:
Animal Care Specialist
What you will be doing:- Provide feeding, care and treatment of animals at AFV, mostly dogs and cats
- Cleaning and sanitizing dog and cat kennels daily
- Updates animal profiles and memos routinely and accurately to provide the best possible information for accurate files
- Received and cares for impounded animals and animal intakes
- Medicates sick and injured animals
- Assists with and/or performs humane euthanasia (if certified) as required
- Provide courteous customer service and assist clients during out processing of adopted or recovered animals
- Assist clients in searching for the proper / most compatible animal to adopt
- Ability to work independently and prioritize and constantly keep animals rotated between exercise yards and kennels
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take rapid, accurate notes and enter into database, particularly during periods of high call volume
- Dog and cat handling skills
- Understanding that humane animal euthanasia is part of the animal shelter’s duties as required
- Initiative to constantly work towards team's goals, including cleaning, assisting other employees, laundry and other tasks, particularly during slower customer service periods
- Basic understanding and recognition of canine and feline behaviors, including aggressive signals and symptoms of illness
- Ability to deescalate difficult conversations and resolve complaints
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, but not required
- $17.00 per hour
