Garden Center Manager

We’re looking for an experienced, plant-savvy retail manager to help shape the future of our new 5.5-acre garden center in Wildwood, Missouri. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading a team, curating plant and product selections and creating a shopping experience customers love to return to.

As our Garden Center Manager, you’ll oversee daily operations, refine and expand our retail offerings and bring creative ideas to life in partnership with our leadership team.

$20–$45/hour, based on experience, skills and attitude.

• Has proven retail management experience, ideally in a garden center or plant-related business.
• Has strong knowledge of plants, garden products and seasonal retail cycles.
• Enjoys shaping assortments and displays to create an engaging customer experience.
• Leads by example and communicates clearly.
• Is organized, dependable and detail-oriented.
• Thrives in a hands‑on environment and enjoys being part of a small, collaborative team.
• Oversee daily retail operations and maintain a welcoming, customer‑friendly environment.
• Develop and refine retail product and plant offerings with a focus on customer needs and seasonal trends.
• Train, schedule and support retail staff, building a positive and motivated team.
• Manage inventory and coordinate ordering with ownership and vendors.
• Create and maintain seasonal displays and merchandising layouts.
• Assist customers with plant selection, care tips and general product inquiries.
• Collaborate with leadership to plan events, promotions and community engagement opportunities.
• Follow all safety standards and report accidents or hazards immediately.

• Retail management experience required; garden center or nursery experience preferred.
• Broad knowledge of plants, gardening products and customer preferences.
• Ability to manage inventory, merchandising and team operations effectively.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with a hands‑on style.
• Basic computer and POS system experience.
• Must be 18+, legally permitted to work in the U.S. and hold a valid driver’s license.

• Year‑round indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions, including hot summers and cold winters.
• Greenhouse areas may exceed 100°F during warmer months.
• Requires standing, walking, bending and reaching for extended periods.
• Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs. (e.g., plants, boxes or display materials).
• Frequent interaction with customers in a retail environment.
