Brief Description

Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, CCSNC, Licensed Practical Nurse administers medically prescribed treatment, coordinates nursing care, and monitors the performance of acceptable standards of nursing care on his/her assigned nursing unit.

The Licensed Practical Nurse must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the residents served on his/her unit – adult through geriatric. The nurse participates in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care as per department policies and procedures.

Education: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.

Work Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of satisfactory experience in a geriatric setting preferred.

Special Employment Requirements: Clearances required: PA State Police criminal history check and PA Department of Aging FBI fingerprint clearance (if applicable). Possession of a current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners required or eligible for licensure. CPR Certification required or must be obtained and maintained. Must adhere to nursing care standards and departmental policies.

Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required. Good management skills are necessary.

Physical Demands: Heavy work involving exerting 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally, 25-50 lbs. frequently, and 10-25 lbs. constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. Ability to transport self throughout the facility required.

Accident or Health Hazards: Occasional exposure to blood, body substances, and potential needle sticks.
