The Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN), or the T’exelcemc (people of WLFN) have belonged to the Secwepemc (or Shuswap) Nation for over 6500 years. Reporting to the Director of Member Services, and as part of the Information Technology Department, the Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining, securing, and supporting the organization’s IT infrastructure, systems, and networks. This role ensures the reliability, performance, and security of servers, cloud services, endpoints, and applications while providing advanced technical support to staff. The Systems Administrator plays a key role in cybersecurity, system improvements, documentation, and long-term IT planning to support the growing needs of Williams Lake First Nation.
Employment TypeFull-Time Permanent (35 hours per week). Monday - Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Probation Period3 months from the date of hire.
Education Required- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, or equivalent are considered an asset.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a Systems Administrator or similar technical role.
- Demonstrated experience supporting Microsoft 365, Windows Server environments, and endpoint devices.
- Experience working with networking, security, and backup systems.
Non-exempt.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, system administration, networking, and cybersecurity principles.
- Proficient use of information technologies including servers, cloud platforms, desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of backup systems, disaster recovery, and data protection best practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to think critically and act logically to evaluate situations, solve problems and make decisions.
- Ability to take directions and work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to apply sound judgment and make decisions within the area, often on short notice.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize work effectively and under pressure.
- Excellent knowledge of technical documentation and best practices.
