The Registered Nurse:

• Provides nursing care to emergency patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
• Enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers
• Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice
• Maintains and advances own clinical competence
• Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned

There are multiple permanent part-time (0.75) opportunities available.

Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights; rotating from 07:30 to 19:57, 19:57 to 07:57 hours.

With a dedicated team of health-care professionals, state-of-the-art facilities, and a commitment to excellence in patient care, Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) serves as a vital hub for health care in Williams Lake and the surrounding area. The hospital offers a comprehensive range of services, including emergency care, surgical procedures, specialized treatments, laboratory services, diagnostic imaging, and ongoing public health support.

As a smaller facility, CMH offers health-care professionals the opportunity to practice with a degree of autonomy rarely found in larger centers. Covering a vast catchment area extending from Bella Coola on the coast to the Cariboo mountains in the east, and serving a significant Indigenous population, the hospital presents a chance to truly make a difference in the lives of a diverse range of individuals.

Currently, the emergency department features one trauma room, a minor surgery room, monitoring bays, a gynecology room that also serves as a negative pressure room, a designated observation area, and a two-bay cast room. Staffing comprises a mix of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and emergency department physicians providing round-the-clock coverage, catering to approximately 21,000 patient visits annually. Our Hospital Acute Unit (HAU) offers three high-acuity beds.

On-site facilities include laboratory and diagnostic imaging services, as well as outpatient hemodialysis units. Additionally, residential beds are seamlessly integrated within the medical-surgical unit for comprehensive patient care.

As we embark on a three-year redevelopment plan aimed at expanding our facility, including a new emergency department, we are doubling-down on our dedication to enhancing access to health care services for the community. The new emergency department will feature 23 treatment spaces, including two trauma bays, specialized procedure rooms, improved patient privacy with solid wall treatment spaces, and upgraded technology designed to support efficient, high quality care delivery.

With expanded capacity, improved patient flow, and modern clinical environments, the redevelopment is helping shape a stronger future for emergency care in the Cariboo region.
