POSITIONThe Outreach Worker provides culturally sensitive, accountable, and community-based support services to Williams Lake First Nation members using a strength-based and trauma-informed approach. Working within the Social Development Department, this role focuses on non-crisis outreach, relationship-building, systems navigation, and long-term follow-up support for individuals and families requiring assistance to access programs, services, and community resources.
Through culturally grounded case management and outreach, the Outreach Worker supports clients with problem-solving, skill development, referrals, and practical assistance related to housing, income supports, appointments, and community engagement. This role emphasizes continuity of care, prevention, and post-stabilization support, and works collaboratively with internal programs and external service providers.
This role is not a crisis response position and does not provide emergency intervention. Instead, it complements crisis services by supporting individuals before situations escalate and after stabilization, ensuring sustained connection to appropriate supports.
Employment TypeFull time permanent position. 35 hours per week from 8:30am-4:30pm with a one-hour unpaid lunch.
Probation Period3 months from the date of hire.
Education Required- Certificate or diploma in Human Service or related field.
- Proven experience supporting individuals with complex needs in harm reduction, conflict resolution, etc.
- Experience working with Indigenous families and communities.
- Experience providing family support, youth support, social work, or related field.
- Trauma informed practice training, crisis Intervention training, suicide Prevention training, or related certification.
- Related education or training in mental illness/addictions/special needs and related issues.
- Knowledge of current social issues related to homelessness, mental illness, and substance use are essential.
