Structural Engineer

Terracon is looking for a Staff Structural Engineer to help grow our Engineering Team. This position will specialize in the design, investigation, and rehabilitation of building structures and building enclosures. This position will support our existing offices located in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.

We focus on providing design and consulting services and provide room for staff to grow into significant responsibilities ranging from client development to ensuring successful project delivery. Our team typically works directly with our Architects, Owners, Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical engineers; for us, quality and doing what's right for our people and our clients is key. • Work under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
• Participate in pre-task planning to establish safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects.
• Assist in developing the scope of work and budgets for routine project proposals.
• Assist in planning and preparing for investigations and other field work.
• Assist in the preparation of Drawings, Specifications, and Inspection reports.
• Analyze data and perform engineering calculations and analysis for PE review.
• Work closely with senior-level project managers and Professional Engineers to gain project management and engineering experience.
• Make design recommendations, adaptations and modifications for review and consideration by the Professional Engineer of Record.
• Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, and other project related documents.
• Prepare work scope, proposals and reports and plans investigations for approval by senior-level professionals.
• Work with our project team to interact with our client and communicate project progress.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification required.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
