About the Position
Civil Engineer & Project Manager - Richmond, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, VA
Join VHB as a Civil Engineer & Project Manager in our Mid-Atlantic Energy Evolution Practice. This unique opportunity places you within a dynamic, collaborative team driving innovation in the energy sector. You will work on a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects, supporting the development of clean energy solutions and helping advance the region’s sustainability goals.
Job Location s:
Richmond, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, VA.
- Serve as Engineer of Record and support the preparation of land development design and permitting documents for Solar and BESS development projects.
- Prepare and review drawings and specifications documenting the systems design.
- Responsible for project financial performance and routine client communications.
- Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, stakeholders and community members to discuss project design and permitting issues.
- Manage work and professional development of junior-level staff.
- Manage small, medium, and large projects.
- Develop new project opportunities and assist with proposal development and submissions.
- Experienced with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, and MS Office. ArcGIS skills desirable.
- Strong integrated services approach, comprehensive understanding of design, details, and construction drawing preparation including site layout, grading, erosion control and stormwater management.
- Knowledge of land development construction, construction materials and detailing including detail drawings, sections, and material specifications.
- Project research and analysis.
- Strong, creative engineering skills with adherence to office standards.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Self‑motivated.
- Ability to multitask, think critically and pay attention to detail.
- Collaborative team player.
- Displays strong leadership skills and growth potential.
- Interested in growing business development skills.
- BS in Civil Engineering or related degree.
- 5+ years of increasing engineering experience on complex projects.
- PE licensure in Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Proficiency in site layout, grading, and stormwater management.
- Experience in developing and compiling/producing site plans, construction documents, specifications, and engineering reports.
- Understanding of the energy market in the Mid‑Atlantic region, especially Virginia.
