Bowman has an opportunity for a Water/Wastewater Engineer I to join our team in Williamsburg, VA. This position offers an exciting chance to work on moderate complexity projects and develop essential engineering skills within a supportive and inclusive environment.
PurposeEvaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on moderately complex projects.
Responsibilities- Receive general instruction on key objectives for execution and work independently or under senior staff direction.
- Collaborate with senior staff to learn planning work and assist with marketing the firm’s capabilities.
- Work side by side with the project team on water/wastewater projects to improve community water resources.
- Assist in developing plans, specifications, and reports, and contribute to designs based on field investigations and inspections.
- Complete detailed design work, review computations, coordinate project design aspects, and prepare plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Effective communication with all levels of the organization and external partners.
- Highly motivated, problem‑solving attitude and strong work ethic.
- Commitment to quality and the company's reputation.
- Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, mechanical engineering, or related discipline.
- Entry‑level position; no prior experience required. Any professional experience is a plus.
- Academic or internship experience with water/wastewater systems preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D, and hydraulic modeling preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam preferred.
