Environmental Services Aide-Labor Pool

Location: Williamsburg, Virginia

Overview: The Environmental Aide performs proper housekeeping and cleaning that meets state requirements, regulatory agency requirements, facility regulatory requirements, RHS Infection Control standards, and Environmental Services policies and procedures. Ensures a neat, clean and safe work environment is maintained. Ensures adequate supplies for cleaning and assists team members with moving equipment, cleaning and beds. Labor Pool — As needed.

What You Will Do
  • Cleans all assigned areas, including patient rooms, bathrooms, corridors, public areas, elevators, and ancillary areas such as nurses’ stations, laboratories, lounges, locker rooms, etc. by means not limited to sweeping, washing, mopping, dusting, disinfecting and sanitizing.
  • Uses the correct cleaners for the intended task and labels, stores, and handles chemicals safely and properly.
  • Restocks supplies and cleans carts daily to maintain a smooth flow of operations. Areas of responsibility are stocked with paper goods, soaps, chemicals and reusable goods as applicable. Demonstrates the ability to terminally clean and keep the assigned area clean in accordance with RHS policies.
  • Maintains a safe patient care environment by consistently complying with RHS, DNV, State and regulatory standards to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff. Follows guidelines for proper body mechanics, hazardous materials handling and universal precautions to prevent accidents and injuries. Maintains a safe work area.
  • Performs all cleaning duties in a timely, safe, and thorough manner in compliance with Infection Control Standards toward National Patient Safety Goals, including dusting, cleaning, sanitizing, trash removal, and other services as needed. Areas are cleaned according to schedule and in accordance with departmental policies.
Qualifications Education
  • High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
Experience
  • 1 year housekeeping/environmental services experience in a healthcare setting (Preferred)
Licenses & Certifications
  • Certified AED (American Heart Association / American Red Cross / American Safety and Health Institute) (Preferred)
