Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist – Hematology

Join Sentara Health’s Williamsburg Medical Center as a Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist in Hematology. You will be responsible for laboratory testing, result interpretation, and daily technical operations.

Perform laboratory testing and interpret results using scientific knowledge and principles of test procedures and disease processes. Recommend contingency testing when appropriate. Directly responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing daily technical operations, including staff training and education, implementation of instrumentation, and accreditation readiness.

• Develop, maintain, and manage daily technical operations.
• Train and educate staff and students in a 24/7 environment.
• Supervise, assess competency, and oversee proficiency surveys.
• Analyze PI data, document progress.
• Maintain policies, procedures, and electronic documents.
• Demonstrate fiscal responsibility.

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemical Science, or Medical Technology.
• Certification eligible with ASCP or AMT; proof of eligibility required before employment.

Full‑time base pay: $33.53 – $55.89/hour, plus shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, or bonus opportunities.
