Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship
Walgreens is looking for Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Tech Apprentices to serve customers and advance their careers. These roles have transitioned to a patient‑centric focus, enabling technicians to build strong relationships and use the latest technology.
Base Pay Range$16.50/hr - $20.00/hr
Key Responsibilities and Operations- Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy and other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with state, federal and company policies.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and ensure accurate entry. If PTCB certified, coach other technicians and cashiers in system use.
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience: greet customers, resolve issues, answer questions, and share best practices for service excellence.
- Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
- Perform duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist or Store Manager, including filling prescriptions, checking for interactions, assisting in scheduling and workflow management, and handling cash ledger responsibilities.
- Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
- Maintain compliance with Good Faith Dispensing policy and the Walgreens Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
- Assist with inventory management activities: ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals; file claims for overages, shortages or damaged goods.
- Help administer clinical services such as labeling blood or urine samples, coordinating with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
- Support the Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in building relationships with local medical community, including outreach to physicians and nursing homes.
- Assist with exterior and interior maintenance of the Pharmacy Department, ensuring it is stocked, clean, neat and orderly.
- Uphold respectful relationships with coworkers and complete special assignments as directed.
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification.
- Attend required training sessions and acquire continuing education credits to maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy.
- Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- Six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Good math skills for accurately counting, measuring and weighing medications.
- Strong computer skills.
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- PTCB certification.
