The Supervisor, Nursing and Patient Care Services for acute care shares the 24/7 responsibility to assist the manager with the daily operations of one or more clinical areas. Supervises patient care services staff to ensure patient safety, provides high-quality outcomes and an exceptional patient/family experience; assists manager in the development and monitoring of the departmental budget; coordinates the purchasing and payroll processes;
serves as a technical/clinical resource to team members; and performs work assignments as needed to provide appropriate coverage and mentor staff. May coordinate and/or assist with staff education, orientation, and precepting of team members. Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal skills and can adapt leadership style to support achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
- Assist manager with interviewing, hiring, developing, and retaining staff members to build a highly reliable work team.
- Coordinate purchasing and payroll processes for the emergency department.
- Provide clinical guidance to staff and serve as a resource for complex patient care situations.
- Perform work assignments as needed to ensure appropriate coverage across the department.
- Maintain patient safety and quality standards in a fast-paced emergency environment.
- 2+ years recent ED staff RN or ED Leadership experience required.
- At least 1 year of leadership experience in an RN role.
- Emergency Department ACLS certification within 1 year of hire.
- All Direct Care RNs required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
- BSN or MSN required.
- Valid RN license in the State of Virginia.
BSN or MSN required.
Certifications and LicensureRN License valid to practice in the State of Virginia.
CompensationBase pay rate for Full Time employment: $91,416.00–$. Additional compensation may be available such as shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
