About the Position

The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for overseeing quality control activities during the execution of warehouse support service activities (i.e., pre‑production/sustainment, inventory, production, receiving) supporting the Navy Medical Readiness Logistic Command’s (NMRLC) Expeditionary Medical System (EXMED) mission. The applicant will use the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) database, or Hospital Information Management System (HIMS) database, or other DoD authorized system to monitor and provide quality surveillance that is nested with the government’s overall Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan.

The position requires a detail‑oriented and highly proficient individual that can adhere to published standards and guidance directed in local Standard Operating Procedures, Navy guidelines, and Department of Defense publications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform checks and tests on materials, components, and finished products at various stages of production.
  • Examine data and logs to identify defects, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures and guidelines to maintain consistent quality.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (inventory, receiving, kitting, maintenance, production, engineering) to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed reports on quality tests and inspections, and maintain accurate records.
  • Recommend changes to production steps and measures to improve product quality and efficiency.
Operational Management
  • Provide surveillance of daily logistics operations, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and workflow efficiency within area of responsibility.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), taking corrective action when performance falls outside target thresholds.
  • Perform quality control on transaction records and file documents appropriately and promptly.
  • Research quality assurance messages using DMLSS or other military database of record and coordinate affected products/recalls with affected work centers.
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Proven leadership and management experience in logistics, maintenance, or engineering environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, dynamic setting.
  • Follow and understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions.
  • Read, write, and clearly communicate work processes with leadership and peers.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Work independently and as a team member.
  • Dependable in meeting work schedule requirements.

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Lift and carry weight over 45 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in quality processes in medical logistics and warehouse operations.
  • Current valid driver’s license.
  • Understand, read, and write in English.
