Job Description

OMNI Environmental Solutions is seeking a skilled and self-motivated Field IT Technician to serve as the primary onsite IT resource for our WISCO Trucking Inc. and WISCO Inc. operations. This role focuses heavily on troubleshooting and resolving IT issues across seven remote sites in the Williston Basin region, ensuring operational continuity in a dynamic environmental services setting. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a knack for diagnosing complex issues, improving systems, and maintaining accurate data.

You will work closely with local teams while collaborating with our Carencro, LA help desk and leverage support from specialized networking and security teams.

  • Troubleshooting and Support:
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues across desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and VoIP systems at all seven sites, serving as the primary point of contact for on-site IT challenges.
  • Install and maintain cabling infrastructure (e.g., running Ethernet/cat6 cables) and security cameras, including climbing ladders and working in industrial environments.
  • Utilize strong networking knowledge (e.g., TCP/IP, VLANs, Wi-Fi) to troubleshoot connectivity issues, collaborating with the Networking team for advanced configurations when needed.
  • Manage and resolve IT tickets using the Halo ITSM ticketing system, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and communicating updates via Microsoft Teams.
  • Collaborate with local end-users and managers to understand issues, provide basic IT training, and implement solutions that minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including system updates, backups, and inventory tracking of IT assets across all sites.
  • Improve existing IT systems by identifying inefficiencies, cleaning up data (e.g., outdated records, misconfigured settings), and implementing streamlined processes.
  • Conduct site visits to audit IT equipment and ensure compliance with company standards, escalating complex security issues to the dedicated Security team.
  • Occasionally work weekends, evenings, or after hours to address urgent issues or perform scheduled maintenance.
Required Experience / Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in IT support, with a strong emphasis on troubleshooting in a multi-site or field environment (e.g., oilfield services, trucking, or remote operations).
  • Proven troubleshooting skills across:
    • Hardware (desktops, laptops, peripherals, cameras).
    • Software (Windows OS, Microsoft Office 365, IOS, Android).
    • Networking basics (TCP/IP, VLANs, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, diagnosing connectivity issues).
  • Comfortable with physical tasks, including climbing ladders, crawling in tight spaces, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in outdoor/industrial environments (valid driver’s license (with clean record) and reliable vehicle required for site travel).
  • Proficiency with an IT ticketing system and Microsoft Teams for collaboration and communication.
  • Experience with IT asset inventory tracking and basic data cleanup (e.g., organizing records, removing redundant data).
  • Awareness of cybersecurity best practices (e.g., password management, phishing awareness), with the ability to escalation advanced issues to the Security team.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain technical solutions to non-technical users and managers.
  • Self-driven with strong prioritization and time-management skills to handle a dynamic workload across multiple locations.
  • Ability to travel independently between sites (up to 100 miles one-way).
Preferred

Skills and Qualifications
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or ITIL Foundations.
  • Experience with surveillance systems (e.g., IP cameras, NVRs) or industrial IoT devices.
  • Familiarity with process improvement and data cleanup in IT environments.
  • Knowledge of environmental services or trucking industry IT challenges (e.g., ruggedized equipment, mobile fleet tracking).
Comprehensive Benefits Package
  • Blue Cross/Blue Shield Healthcare, Dental, and Vision (eligible 1st of the month after 30 days)
  • Employer-paid Life and AD&D Insurance
  • Supplemental insurance options available
  • 401K with company match (eligible the 1st of the month after 30 days)
