A growing mechanical construction company is seeking an Engineering & Estimating Manager to lead its next phase of growth, innovation, and operational excellence. This senior, hands‑on leadership role oversees engineering, preconstruction, design, and estimating operations while driving revenue, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring high‑quality project execution. This position is ideal for a seasoned mechanical/HVAC construction leader who can balance strategic vision with day‑to‑day execution across cross‑functional teams.
This is a full‑time, in‑office role reporting directly to ownership.

Business Development- Identify and pursue new sales prospects and business opportunities.
- Lead proposal creation, pricing strategy, negotiations, and closing activities.
- Represent the company at targeted industry events.
- Build and maintain strong client, contractor, and partner relationships.
- Develop and execute strategies to expand revenue and market share.
- Support development of construction and design‑build work.
- Oversee engineering design reviews for accuracy, constructability, and compliance.
- Manage CAD/Revit teams to ensure timely and precise drawings.
- Ensure SMACNA and B‑31 welding compliance.
- Identify value‑engineering opportunities.
- Maintain and improve code compliance knowledge, standards, and procedures.
- Review design narratives, proposals, and design‑build documentation.
- Oversee complete bid packages including estimates, qualification materials, schedules, and proposals.
- Lead proposal development and contract negotiations.
- Ensure estimates align with scope, budget, and company goals.
- Review RFPs, final pricing, estimating rates, fabrication rates, costs, and labor hours.
- Support market expansion for water‑jet and fabrication services.
- Collaborate with engineering and project management teams on systems, documentation, specifications, and installation standards.
- Assist with on‑site reviews and troubleshooting.
- Lead, mentor, and develop estimating, design, and engineering staff.
- Hire, train, and manage department personnel.
- Oversee workflow coordination, task prioritization, and scheduling.
- Conduct performance evaluations and weekly sales meetings.
- Maintain and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Drive cross‑functional training and succession planning.
- Ensure accountability, efficiency, and professional growth across the team.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs occasionally and 50 lbs repetitively.
- Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods.
- Ability to climb and work from ladders up to 40 feet.
- Must follow all safety requirements and PPE guidelines (VOSHA, OSHA, NIOSH).
You will join a collaborative Estimating & Design team consisting of estimators, sales professionals, mechanical engineers, and designers. This group provides technical leadership, accurate cost estimates, design insights, and standardized documentation to ensure successful project execution.

- Minimum 10 years of senior‑level management/supervisory experience in HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical construction.
- Strong understanding of HVAC and plumbing trades.
- Experience in business development, estimating, preconstruction, and project execution.
- Proven ability to lead high‑performing, cross‑functional teams.
- Strong financial and budgeting acumen.
- Deep knowledge of SMACNA standards, code requirements, and construction methodologies.
- Expertise in reading and interpreting construction documents, blueprints, and bid specifications.
- Familiarity with fabrication processes and estimating software.
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- PE license in Vermont or New Hampshire is a plus.
- Proficiency with CAD, Revit, BIM tools is preferred.
