- Ensure that patients are brought into an exam room in a timely manner so that when a Provider is ready to see the patient all intake duties have been completed.
- Obtain accurate vital signs on all patients ranging in age from newborn to geriatric.
- Obtain and process various lab specimens according to established protocols and procedures; perform appropriate in‑house laboratory testing & functions.
- Ensure that required patient forms have been filled out by the patient prior to seeing the Provider.
- Enter or update patient information in the EMR in accordance with established protocols.
- Perform basic medical procedures such as dressing changes, venipuncture, spirometry, ear irrigation, EKG, audiometry, cast or suture removal, application of DME, vision screening, etc.
- Periodically throughout the day, ensure that exam rooms are clean and stocked appropriately.
- Prepare rooms for minor surgical procedures and assist physicians as needed.

Works schedule accurately reflects patient status. - Maintain working knowledge of the scheduling system and procedures.
- Document all patient interactions accurately and appropriately.
- Prepare charts for patient visits according to standing orders, protocols, and provider outlines.
- Interact professionally with patients, co‑workers, and other members of the health‑care team.
- Clean and sterilize instruments.
- Other clinical duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; certificate in medical assisting preferred; experience in a medical or hospital setting, or relevant experience in the medical field.
- Obtain and maintain current BLS certification.
- Begin Hepatitis B vaccination series prior to time of hire.
- Interact in a professional and courteous manner with all patients, co‑workers, doctors, and clients.
- Work effectively with supervisors and peers.
- Demonstrate experience with computers and gain proficiency in all practice‑related diagnosis, billing and scheduling software.
- Work within the EFH office culture and interact with patients, co‑workers, clients, etc. in a manner that furthers the EFH vision of practice growth and quality of service.
- Attend practice‑related meetings, trainings, and other activities that improve procedures and practices that bring quality to EFH.
