This student worker position is responsible for providing Tier 1 IT Helpdesk support to all end users of the VSC community with a high level of customer service. The VSC IT Helpdesk supports end users via online ticketing system, email, phone, and walk-in. VSC IT is a fast-moving environment, and students in this position develop and use a wide range of problem solving and social skills in carrying out the responsibilities outlined below.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting users with account login and access problems
- Assisting users with Tier 1 network access problems (WiFi, wired)
- Troubleshooting VSC-owned hardware and software
- Configuring VSC-owned computer hardware, software, and peripherals
- Installing and moving computer hardware, software, and peripherals
- Training end-users as necessary
Desired Skills & Experience
Prior experience is not required as VSC IT will provide technical and customer service training to students in this position, but students must be eager to learn new skills, and be able to work independently and with others. The following skills and experience are desirable:
- Experience working in a customer service capacity
- Proficiency in communicating with customers over the phone, via email, and in person
- Proficiency and comfort in working with technology
Hours Worked
Typically, 10-15 hours per week while classes are in session, with additional hours available during semester breaks.
