ReStore Clothing Associate

Description

Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity (GMHFH) ReStore is seeking a Clothing Associate to support its mission of helping local families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable home ownership.

Summary:

Clothing Associates provide excellent customer service and ensure customers and donors have a safe, positive, and rewarding experience. They work in the clothing area sorting, hanging, and baling clothing donations; cashiering, moving, and loading donations; and other duties as assigned.

• Sort and hang clothing donations, setting aside any items not in good, sellable condition.
• Safely operate the baler to bale clothing not going to the sales floor for bulk pricing.
• Maintain a safe, uncluttered clothing area.
• Promptly assist donors dropping off donations and assess donations for good, sellable condition.
• Greet donors and customers, thank them for contributing, and answer questions.
• Operate the Point-of-Sale cash register system and help customers complete purchases, staying within sight of the register area and front door.
• Help complete the daily opening and closing store checklist.

• Help customers carry purchases to their vehicles.
• Sort and price donations and prepare them for the sales floor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

• Previous experience in a retail environment.
• High school diploma preferred.

• Effective communication with staff, volunteers, and visitors to the ReStore.
• Ability to operate a baling machine safely and keep the clothing area safe and walkable.
• Dependable with the ability to adhere to a schedule.
• Excellent customer service skills to respond to questions or concerns.
• Strong time management and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Flexibility to switch tasks quickly and work as part of a team.
• Basic arithmetic skills to operate the register.

• Stand for long periods behind a register, navigate stairs, and move on a busy sales floor.
• Lift, carry, and place down at least 25 lbs.
• Squat to pick up items and perform repetitive data entry on register and pricing motions.
• Safely operate a large baling machine, sort clothing donations, answer calls, use a hand truck, and price merchandise.

The hourly rate for this part-time, in-person position is currently $16 and includes a 20% employee discount.
