With moderate supervision, the Retail Keyholder assists the store management team in executing and supervising all store activities, ensuring products are accessible, engaging customers, maintaining a clean environment, and fostering loyalty.
EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions and concerns courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform about promotions and the trade-in program, recommend additional items, apply selling behaviors in each transaction, and express gratitude to every guest. Prioritize guests over tasks and circulate throughout the store.
- Support the shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, and nurture guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases and returns accurately via POS, ensuring top‑notch service.
- Address guest comments or questions in person or by phone, answering calls promptly and professionally.
- Promote Game Stop’s unique guest benefits, such as title reservation and Pro Rewards loyalty programs.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising, including restrooms, per company guidelines, and ensure all fixtures and equipment are operational.
- Complete omni‑channel orders daily.
- Safeguard company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention practices; perform scam awareness, safety best practices, and bank deposits as required.
- Conduct store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and move products from stockroom to the front of the store, ensuring proper representation, organization, and alphabetization.
- Support store management in meeting and exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative and operational duties.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals accurately in POS, complete closeout paperwork and bank deposit slips, and ensure sufficient cash and change for sales transactions.
- Check shipments for discrepancies or shortages, record discrepancies in POS, and report to the appropriate manager.
- Process defectives, recalls, and stock pulls accurately, ensuring proper labeling and packing lists.
- Inspect associates' and leaders' packages or belongings at store closing or shift end.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates in the absence of management.
- Consistently adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Follow all opening and closing procedures.
- Observe associate performance and provide timely and appropriate feedback to store management.
- Provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 1 year of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.
- Must be able to work alone, stand, and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 10 hours per day.

- Demonstrate clear verbal and written communication and listening skills, both in person and on the phone, using spoken and written English; bilingual English/Spanish speaking and writing skills preferred.

- Operate the POS computer system and properly complete the required paperwork.
- Possess basic math skills and alphabetizing skills.
