Head Start Assistant Teacher - Willmar

Position Overview

Help create an amazing learning environment for young children! As a Head Start Assistant Teacher, you will work side by side with a Head Start Teacher to spark curiosity, build independence, and inspire little learners while supporting parents to become their child’s greatest advocate.

• Collaborate with the Head Start Teacher to plan and execute the most engaging and enriching classroom days.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date record keeping to keep everything running smoothly.
• Introduce fun and creative health and nutrition activities to bring a health twist to the classroom.
• Step in for the Head Start Teacher as needed – you are the ultimate backup.
• Assist with light janitorial duties when necessary.
• Support recruitment and enrollment efforts to promote the program.
• Ensure a safe environment for everyone, prioritizing safety at every step.

• Proficiency with computer applications.
• Strong teamwork and ability to work independently.
• Highly reliable and dependable.
• Knowledge of child development or eagerness to learn.
• Excellent problem‑solving and conflict resolution skills.

• You are 18 years or older.
• At least one year of experience working with children ages 3‑5.
• Hold a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Early Childhood Degree, or be willing to obtain one within two years.
• Have CPR and First Aid Certification or be ready to get certified.

Starting salary of $17.56 – $26.59 per hour plus benefits. Full‑time (40 hours per week), 12‑month union position. Opportunities to grow, learn and make a lasting impact.
