Production Operator

Pay: $25.75 per hour plus Shift Differential: $1.00 per hour
Shift &

Working Hours:

2nd Shift. 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm. Sunday - Thursday.
Might be required to work 3rd shift if operational needs arise. Those hours are Sunday - Thursday, 10:00 pm - 6:30 am. Weekends/Overtime/Holidays as needed.

Utility operator will perform a variety of jobs and be assigned to jobs wherever and whenever the need arises. The utility operator is required to learn at minimum the following skills:
Mixing, Micro‑Mix, Pelleting, Feeder line Bulk, Dry Bulk Load Out, Packaging, Feeder line Packaging, Receiving, Grinding & Flaking. The primary responsibility and time spent will be to cover time off for other operators and as required by management. Utility operator will provide additional help to all areas throughout the shift as well as housekeeping responsibilities. The utility operator must know and understand each process area previously stated and PLC system associated with that process area to operate it safely and efficiently.

The utility operator must comply with Purina’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and abide by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations for drug handling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complies with all safety processes and insists on safety practices of self and others
  • Shows up on time, completes tasks by deadlines, and adapts to changes quickly
  • Able to multi‑task and keep up with production demands in a fast‑paced environment
  • Ensures all quality standards and standard operating procedures are followed during production process
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of work area
  • Collaborates and follows instructions of Leads and Management to accomplish daily work assignments
Required Experience and Skills
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • 1 year or more of work experience in any industry
  • Basic computer and math skills
  • Able to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions in English
  • Willingness to learn new skills, problem‑solve and troubleshoot
  • Strong collaboration, communication skills, and is always respectful
Preferred Experience
  • 1+ year of manufacturing work experience
  • Machine operation and/or forklift experience
Physical Requirements
  • Able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements
  • Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment
  • Working in temperature zones that include cold and/or hot environments for extended periods and may include areas where dust and chemicals are present
