Lunch/Office Aide – High School 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Position at Kirtland Local School District. The aide supervises students during lunch, maintains cafeteria order, and assists in keeping the lunchroom sanitary and orderly.
Job ObjectiveSupervise students and maintain order in the lunchroom. Assist as required to help maintain a sanitary and orderly cafeteria.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Evidence of a clear record per the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII).
- Demonstrated maturity and experience working with, or evidence of the ability to work with, school‑age children.
- Monitor and control students’ behavior to maintain a safe and healthy environment that allows students to enjoy their meal and social activities.
- Communicate school rules to students. Maintain high standards for student conduct and enforce discipline according to school policy and due process rights.
- Offer help to students when assistance is indicated while remaining non‑intrusive.
- Clean up spills immediately to prevent slipping or falling accidents.
- During an emergency, stay with and attend to the needs of the injured student, and send for immediate assistance.
- Report any unsafe conditions to the Food Service Supervisor and/or Building Principal.
- Wash tables, pick up trash, mop and/or sweep the floor. Help with other kitchen/cafeteria duties as directed.
- Attend all mandatory meetings and training programs. Participate in professional growth activities when requested.
- Serve as a role model for students. Demonstrate responsibility, citizenship, respect, and courtesy.
- Perform other duties as directed.
- Ability to move freely throughout the building.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move equipment or supplies weighing up to twenty pounds.
- Ability to work with young children in activities that may require stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Ability to communicate effectively using language skills.
- Ability to maintain a non‑punitive relationship with students and demonstrate fairness and patience while respecting their confidences.
- Ability to react productively to frequent interruptions and changing conditions.
- Ability to organize and complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain a tactful disposition when dealing with administrators, staff, students, parents, and the public.
- Ability to be punctual and maintain a good attendance record.
- Occasional exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue.
- Frequent interaction with disruptive or unruly children.
- Frequent exposure to student commotion.
- Work cooperatively with others.
