A Multi-modality Tech provides diagnostic patient care services and related diagnostic procedures in more than one Radiology modality. The Technologist is responsible for the independent operation of imaging equipment, performing diagnostic examinations using multiple modalities, and managing the daily operations of the department, including patient scheduling, equipment maintenance, reporting equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). The technologist maintains high standards of medical ethics and is self-motivated to expand their knowledge of the field, diseases, and evolving procedures.

What You Will Do

• Must actively and consistently work in more than one modality.
• Follow hospital and department guidelines for patient identification and safety, including ALARA, Image Gently, and Image Wisely.
• Demonstrate competency in patient and technical imaging skills, producing various radiological exams while maintaining high patient care standards.
• Provide age-specific care to patients from neonates to geriatrics.
• Perform all applicable equipment quality control procedures.
• Accurately record all requested database/log records.
• Show commitment to hospital mission and values.
• Maintain licensure and continuing education requirements.
• Follow directions to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (DNV, Joint Commission).
• Proficient in instructing students and new staff after 1 year of experience.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently.
• Use administrative skills to contribute to department operations, including correct billing code entry in RIS.

Additional Responsibilities

• Provide training, mentorship, and preceptorship to technologists and students.
• Collaborate with co-workers and staff to ensure professional and effective completion of assignments and projects.
• Participate in regulatory activities as needed.
• Contribute to the safe, efficient, and successful department operations through effective communication.
• Communicate effectively with ordering providers and radiologists to ensure proper patient study protocols.
• Ensure all equipment functions properly and initiate service repairs when needed.
• Support self-development and contribute to the hospital and department learning environment.
• Assist in preparing and maintaining equipment Quality Control, database records, and logs.
• Assist the Team Lead as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all policies and standards.
• Refer to departmental documentation during orientation for specific duties and responsibilities.
• Maintain PHI security by complying with all related policies, including annual training, UH Code of Conduct, and policies on PHI use.
