Position Overview

Position Type: Instructional Support / Instructional Paraprofessional
Location: Upper Moreland Intermediate School
Schedule: Full Time, 10 months
Starting Rate: $19.00/hour
Reports To: Assigned Building Principal and/or Director of Special Education and/or Director of Student Services/Supervisor of Secondary Special Education
Closing Date: 01/20/2026

• Discuss with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts in the assigned teaching area.
• Assist students individually or in groups with lesson assignments, presenting or reinforcing learning concepts.
• Collaborate with teacher to devise strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
• Guide independent study, enrichment activities, and remedial tasks set up and assigned by teacher.
• Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in oral communication with students.
• Maintain bulletin boards and other learning displays.
• Operate and care for equipment used for instructional purposes.
• Assist students in mastering use of instructional materials.
• Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other instructional materials.
• Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and make‑up work as assigned.
• Assist with arrival and dismissal of students.
• Assist students with personal hygiene needs as necessary.
• Assist with ambulatory needs, feeding, and other support as required.
• Monitor small‑group testing.
• Observe and report unusual or atypical behavior to teacher or case manager.
• Respect confidentiality of pupil records and school reports.
• Complete state reports (ACCESS) for reimbursement of state‑funded monies.
• Collect behavioral, functional, and academic data.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Regularly talk, hear, and use hands to grasp and move; frequently stand, walk, sit, and reach; occasionally climb or balance; regularly lift up to 10 pounds, frequently lift 25 pounds, and occasionally lift 50 pounds; may push students in wheelchairs or adaptive equipment.

• Two years of post‑secondary study or an associate’s degree, or successful completion of PDE Credentials of Competency.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Evidence of 20 hours of staff development activities related to assignment.
• Compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record checks.
• Adherence to all local, state, federal, and school code requirements for employment.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
