Safe Harbor Staff Facilitator (PRN-12hrs) Jefferson Abington at Jefferson Health.
Job details include planning and leading session activities/themes, conferencing with parents/guardians as necessary, supporting volunteers in their roles, and overseeing the operation of the Safe Harbor program under the direction of the Ambulatory Nurse Manager with operational oversight by the Safe Harbor Program Coordinator.
Essential Functions- Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff in alignment with the values of Jefferson.
- Meet all standards of the Patient Satisfaction Initiative Criteria to support Jefferson as the hospital of choice for patients and employees.
- Act as lead facilitator for Safe Harbor support groups to provide bereavement support to all participants.
- Perform administrative tasks: welcome new families, collect paperwork, provide updates to volunteers and families, mentor new volunteers, oversee post-group meetings, and update the Program Coordinator and leadership as needed.
- Plan and structure the format for Safe Harbor Support Group Sessions to address grieving needs.
- Follow up with families when additional resources are requested or when volunteers have concerns about children in the group.
- Create activities for children, teen and caregiver groups to meet grief needs.
- Work as an integral part of the Safe Harbor staff team and attend monthly staff meetings.
- Assist in planning and running Camp Charlie.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to communicate and facilitate group activities; ability to work with children and adults.
- Ability to lead and provide feedback to volunteers and others as needed.
- Ability to utilize remote/virtual platforms as needed.
- Minimum two years’ experience in group facilitation, bereavement or behavioral health support.
- Education:
Associate’s Degree in Social Work, counseling, psychology, education or human services related field required. Music therapy or expressive arts experience preferred. - Or:
Minimum two years’ experience in group facilitation, bereavement or behavioral health support, volunteer program experience (team development) required. Music therapy and/or expressive arts experience preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License and current auto insurance with proof of coverage.
- Driving record free from major violations within the past five years; maintain an acceptable driving record with no major violations per policy. Major violations must be reported to the department director and/or Human Resources.
