Position SummaryThis position requires expertise in the HVAC and plumbing fields. Employees work from general instructions, with some responsibility for ordering tasks and determining procedures. They may encounter new situations requiring innovative solutions. Safety practices must be followed to protect oneself, colleagues, and property. This is a bargaining unit position represented by the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 542.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide expert maintenance support in HVAC and plumbing
- Troubleshoot complex problems
- Lead projects, including scope and budgeting
- Conduct preventative maintenance
- Respond to emergencies 24/7
- Supervise and inspect assigned personnel (if applicable)
- Develop maintenance programs and protocols
- Deliver excellent customer service
- Perform other duties as required
- Expert knowledge in HVAC or plumbing
- Understanding of Authority policies and safety regulations
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety laws
- Ability to work independently on complex systems diagnosis and repair
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and work orders
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks in hazardous or adverse conditions
- Effective communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills for professional relationships
- Landscaping, groundskeeping, and maintenance
- Roadways, airports, bridges
- Building maintenance, painting, rigging
- Vessel and dock maintenance
- Emergency response, heavy equipment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 7+ years in HVAC/plumbing; 10+ preferred
- Vocational training or apprenticeship preferred
- Valid driver's license
- Class B CDL with tanker endorsement within 6 months
- Journeyperson certificate or master electrician license
- Pre-employment physical, drug test, background check
- Direct deposit or payroll card enrollment
- CDL holders must maintain medical certification and undergo random testing
- Willingness to work flexible hours and in various weather conditions
- 7+ years in HVAC/plumbing
- Completion of federally approved apprenticeship
- HVAC Journeyman License
