Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and detail‑oriented Senior Project Accountant to join our finance team. This position plays a key role in managing the financial aspects of construction and project‑based accounting. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with AIA billing
, job costing
, Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) reporting
, and percentage of completion accounting
. Proficiency with construction ERP systems such as Foundation
, Sage 300 (Timberline), or Sage Intacct is highly preferred.
- Prepare, review, and process AIA billing and payment applications in compliance with contract terms.
- Maintain accurate job cost records including tracking costs to budgets, coding invoices, and supporting project managers with financial data.
- Prepare and analyze WIP reports
, reconciling revenue recognition using the percentage of completion method
. - Collaborate with project managers and operations to ensure proper project setup, budget entries, and change orders in the ERP system.
- Assist with month‑end and year‑end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations related to projects.
- Support audits by providing project financial data and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual requirements, and GAAP.
- Monitor project cash flow and assist with forecasting revenue and cost projections.
- Provide financial insight and recommendations to improve project performance and profitability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 5+ years of project accounting experience in the construction or engineering industry
. - Strong understanding of AIA billing, job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage of completion accounting
. - Proficiency in ERP systems such as Foundation
, Sage 300 CRE (Timberline),
Sage Intacct
, or similar. - Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment.
- CPA or construction accounting certification a plus.
- Experience working with general contractors or subcontractors.
- Familiarity with project management systems and integrations with accounting software.
