Early Childhood Classroom Teacher - Child Development Center-Part-Time

This is a part-time position only up to 29 hours a week. The incumbent will be working at the Child Development Center as the Lead Teacher working directly with children.

The schedule may vary to assist with the daily operational needs. Individuals who are offered part-time employment with the College in this position may be eligible for a $2,500 market-driven hiring stipend.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, present, and evaluate developmentally appropriate child development activities for a particular classroom in the campus Child Development Center.
• Supervise activities and staff assigned to the classroom, maintaining structure, health, safety, and order.
• Provide support and guidance to the children, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with them and their families.
• Monitor, facilitate, and review Early Childhood Education students with the completion of their laboratory observation experiences.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Plan and develop written weekly lesson plans for the developmentally appropriate child development activities.
• Assess the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of the children.
• Maintain on-going communication with staff, children, and their families.
• Supervise Early Childhood Classroom Assistants and/or volunteers.
• Maintain written and electronic records regarding each child’s development, daily activities, injury reports, etc.

Requirements:

• Associate degree in a relevant field.
• Two (2) years of relevant experience is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Per Dela Care regulations, an FBI clearance, State of Delaware Criminal History Background Check and TB screening are required of the final candidate prior to employment.
• C.P.R. and First Aid Certificate must be obtained within two (2) months of hire.
