Lead EHV Transmission Line Engineer 2 - Grid

Join Sargent & Lundy to lead the design of high‑voltage transmission lines from 69 kV to 765 kV, serving as a subject matter expert and mentoring junior design team members.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of transmission lines in the 69 kV to 765 kV range.
  • Serve as a subject matter specialist in 500 kV and 765 kV transmission lines.
  • Mentor and train less experienced design team members.
  • Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
  • Prepare reports and studies that present technical information clearly and concisely, meeting client requirements and S&L formats.
  • Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations, drawing preparation, and transmission line models based on PLS‑CADD.
  • Adhere to Sargent & Lundy’s System of Processes.
Work Arrangement

This hybrid role expects three days in the office and two days remote. A generous relocation package is available depending on location.

Qualifications
  • B.S. from an ABET‑accredited engineering program.
  • Minimum 12 years of transmission design experience.
  • At least 3 years in 500 kV and/or 765 kV transmission line design.
  • Proficiency with PLS‑CADD and familiarity with 765 kV electrical considerations.
  • Experience preparing scopes of work, conceptual designs, design basis, equipment selection, calculations, and specifications.
  • Direct client interaction on transmission lines from 69 kV to 765 kV.
  • Knowledge of NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
  • Experience reviewing design drawings created by others.
Preferred
  • PE license
  • PMP certification
  • Construction experience
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS.

Compensation

Base salary range: $131,960–$205,330. Eligible for discretionary bonus.
