Job Description:

The Lab Supervisor is an exciting opportunity to take responsibility for and deliver results in the Technology and Innovation group at Delrin(R) in our Wilmington DE laboratory. This hands-on role is for a motivated, self-starter with experience in an industrial research and development group eager to contribute to a dynamic growth-oriented team supporting product development, plant support and customer programs while maintaining operational safety and data quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day to day workflow and operational readiness of laboratory equipment spread across chemical, analytical and physical testing labs.
  • Supervise laboratory technicians and support their development.
  • Act as the primary liaison for building and site services to support laboratory operations.
  • Maintain high quality standards for data collection and equipment operation.
  • Organize and maintain equipment operating standards and safety protocols.
  • Contribute directly to execution of test work requests, act as subject matter expert for physical testing.
  • Support new program initiatives by contributing to development of novel test methods.

Ideal Profile:

  • Educational Background:
    Masters Degree in Engineering or Science or Bachelors with industrial experience
  • 7+ years experience in industrial research and development in a chemical, mechanical, or engineering organization; preferably with thermoplastic material characterization.
  • Strong background in physical testing of plastics, measurement analysis, statistical methods. Prefer experience with Six Sigma methodology.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and demonstrated experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong computer skills such as MS Office applications, familiarity with instrumentation software and demonstrated ability in maintaining laboratory equipment.
  • Experience leading a team and ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group to drive business objectives.
  • Excellent time management skills and demonstrated ability to contribute novel solutions to address testing needs.
  • Strong record of maintaining laboratory records and conforming to high standards in safety, quality and effective delivery of results.
  • Based in Wilmington, Delaware
