Sr. Field Engineer - - Wilmington – Amtrak

This position will be responsible for the collection and organization of all monthly track inspection reports across the Mid‑Atlantic Division. The role also provides mentoring for track inspectors and foremen, and coordinates with managers and supervisors on major track maintenance and construction projects throughout the division.
Essential Functions- Handle all track inspection reports completed by field personnel across the division.
- Plan work efficiently and allocate resources to ensure timely accomplishment of tasks.
- Communicate effectively and build rapport with members of the Engineering Track Department, division track managers, supervisors, and foremen.
- Provide mentoring, leadership, and training to division foremen and inspectors to develop skill sets for root‑cause identification, priority setting for corrective work, and proactive remedial action.
- Offer 24/7 support for planned work and emergencies.
- Assist DDE with planning track construction phases from inception to completion of new construction projects.
- Coordinate scheduling of all work activities for major track outages, coordinating with C&S/ET, B&B, and the Transportation Department to meet schedules.
- Ensure quality of work performed on the division.
- Maintain compliance with FRA standards for construction and maintenance of track in the Mid‑Atlantic Division.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or relevant experience.
- At least 6 years of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or relevant experience.
- 8 years of relevant work experience.
- Hands‑on experience in track construction and maintenance.
- Proficient Maximo user.
- Proficient in collaborating with employees at all levels and across IMCS and Transportation Departments.
- Skilled in MS Office, including spreadsheets, presentations, and memorandums.
- Expertise in railroad infrastructure inspection, maintenance, and construction, with basic knowledge of related crafts.
- Knowledgeable in railroad operations, operating rules, and divisional processes, including track and OCS outages.
- Familiar with Federal Railroad Regulations, including Roadway Worker Protection.
