ROLE
The purpose of this role is to support process development and laboratory work related to rare earth separation. The Junior Chemical Engineer would be expected to perform bench-scale experiments to generate reliable data for ongoing research, pilot plant activities, and process validation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform handson lab work to support solvent extraction experiments for rare earth element separation
- Prepare chemical solutions, reagents, and samples for testing and analysis
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment
- Collaborate with senior engineers and scientists to execute technical projects.
- Assist in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting process data to inform process decisions
- Document procedures, observations, and results clearly and accurately
- Contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory workflows, safety practices, and experimental methods
- B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field
- Strong Chemical Engineering/Chemistry fundamentals
- Academic or internship experience with chemical processes, especially wet chemistry
- Ability to thrive in a fastpaced and dynamic environment
- Proficiency in computer software (Microsoft Office, etc.)
- Experience with hydrometallurgical processes like solvent extraction, precipitation, and leaching
- Familiarity with analytical techniques (e.g. ICP, TGA, Acid Base Titration, etc.)
- Experience handling corrosive liquids
