Job Description
Nemours is seeking a Phlebotomist (Full Time, Dayshift, Mon‑Fri) to join our Nemours Children’s Health team in Wilmington, Delaware. Experienced pediatric phlebotomist needed to perform core tasks in the Outpatient Specimen Collection Area, including front desk and phlebotomy support. The candidate should possess exceptional phlebotomy skills and a patient‑centric mindset with the ability to deliver outstanding customer service.
Responsibilities- Collect blood specimens from patients of all ages, primarily pediatric, using venipuncture and capillary methods while ensuring safety, comfort and accurate labeling.
- Distribute specimens to the appropriate laboratory section and complete associated paperwork or electronic entry.
- Collect specimens from adults when assigned, such as hospital employees, research participants or patient‑care associates.
- Utilize information systems for patient and laboratory data.
- Accurately record information, including outside laboratory requisitions.
- Provide front‑desk services such as telephone coverage and greeting of customers, visitors, and employees in accordance with hospital customer‑service guidelines.
- Pick up and deliver specimens, reagents and other supplies as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, disinfecting equipment and performing cleaning tasks as assigned.
- Follow laboratory and hospital safety, infection‑control policies, and use personal protective equipment (PPE) and barrier protection in accordance with new safety protocols.
- High School Diploma required; completion of a phlebotomy training program.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience.
- Pediatric phlebotomy experience preferred.
