Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP, an AmLaw 100 Firm has an immediate opening in the Wilmington, Delaware office for an experienced Bankruptcy Paralegal. This position would be responsible for preparing and filing legal documentation in both the Federal and State courts. The ideal candidate would have five or more years of experience handling bankruptcy matters in a mid to large sized law firm.
Responsibilities- Prepare, file and serve documents with Federal and State Courts through CM/ECF and File and Serve.
- Prepare and file Federal and State legal documents such as summonses, briefs, motions, responses, agendas, fee applications, proofs of claim, bankruptcy petitions and other first day pleadings, schedules and SOFAs, and discovery related pleadings, for review, approval, and use by attorneys.
- Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.
- Perform research and cite checking using Lexis and Westlaw.
- Conduct research and prepare information for various evidentiary hearings in bankruptcy and state court cases.
- Collect, organize and maintain discovery and research files.
- Prepare documents and responses to various discovery demands.
- Prepare for and attend trials, hearings and depositions to support and assist the attorneys.
- Conduct UCC searches and real property searches to determine status of liens on property and/or equipment.
- Prepare UCC documents for filing with various state agencies.
- Research public documents, including but not limited to, retrieving UCC’s, court records, Dun & Bradstreet reports, Secretary of State and Department of Licensing filings.
- Prepare various corporate documents and filing of same with the Secretary of State.
- Investigate, draft and file necessary documentation for foreign judgment collections.
- Maintain calendars of critical case deadlines, and service lists and master case contact lists.
- Handle routine calls and correspondence to and from creditors, creditors’ committee chairperson and members, attorneys, trustees, debtors, clients and the Courts.
- Perform other clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, depositions, taking dictation, and composing and typing routine correspondence.
- File correspondence and legal documents in office filing system.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.
A.) preferred and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily, with attention to detail, strong organizational skills and flexibility to work after hours.
- Punctuality and satisfactory attendance is imperative.
- Excellent client service is expected.
