- Set up and operate various types of machinery, such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment.
- Report any malfunctions or issues to supervisors.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, including machine settings and production quantities. Complete any paperwork or digital entries related to job tasks.
- Work closely with other machinists, engineers, and production staff to ensure a smooth workflow and address any issues that arise. Participate in team meetings and training sessions as needed.
- Demonstrate willingness and initiative to continue learning different machines and machining methods.
- Ability to pass a background and drug test.
- Abide by Environmental Health & Safety standards, including limited cell phone use during work hours (excluding lunch and breaks).
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a machinist training program or apprenticeship is preferred
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or machining environment is a plus but not always required for entry-level positions.
- Hands-on experience through internships or vocational training programs.
- Automobile mechanical experience is a plus.
- Physical requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods, good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination, ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 70 lbs.
- Basic understanding of machining tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers and gauges.
- Basic math skills, including algebra and geometry.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software can be beneficial.
- Ability to switch priorities when needed.
