Responsible for delivering safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the operating room for all patient populations.

This primary position is at Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware.

This role requires active RN licensure in Delaware and may require licenses in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The position involves working shifts aligned with departmental needs and includes on-call and holiday responsibilities based on department requirements.

Position Responsibilities

• Provides age-specific, culturally competent, and ethical care within legal standards of practice.
• Assesses patient's pre-operative, intraoperative, and post-operative status at specified intervals in accordance with organizational policies.
• Develops individualized perioperative care plans.
• Protects patients from injury caused by extraneous objects and sources such as chemicals, electrical, laser, mechanical, and thermal hazards.
• Performs accounting procedures to prevent retained surgical items, in line with organizational policies.
• Ensures procedures are performed on the correct site, side, and level.
• Manages patient specimens according to policies.
• Communicates patient status effectively throughout care continuum.
• Administers medications safely and correctly per policies.
• Maintains tissue perfusion and wound healing through appropriate interventions.
• Ensures patient is at or returns to normothermia postoperatively.
• Protects against surgical site infections.
• Evaluates patient progress toward outcomes.

Position Requirements

• Minimum of one year of experience.
• ASN required; BSN within 3 years of hire.
• Delaware RN license.
• Pennsylvania RN license within 6 months of hire.
• New Jersey RN license within 1 year of hire.
• PA clearances: FBI fingerprint, criminal background, and child abuse checks.
• American Heart Association BLS certification upon hire.
• PALS within 6 months of hire.
• ACLS within 1 year of hire.
• CNOR and CPN preferred.
