Position:Pharmaceutical Sales Specialist – Respiratory Specialty
New Bedford, MA (including Fall River, Falmouth, Raynham)
AstraZeneca holds a unique position in respiratory disease, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), with a range of differentiated potential medicines in development through novel combinations, biologics and devices. The pipeline also includes promising assets in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases such as psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, systemic lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.
Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesYou will develop superior product and disease‑state knowledge and effectively educate and engage healthcare professionals in dialogue about clinical evidence, approved indications, and product efficacy/safety profiles to support on‑label prescribing for appropriate patients. You will function independently with a high degree of sales proficiency to drive sales performance and ensure sales forecasts and assigned budgets meet or exceed therapeutic and territory expectations.
You will successfully complete training requirements, including product examinations.
By developing and maintaining in‑depth knowledge of market, demographic, and managed care information relative to your assigned sales territory, you will work with your Commercial Business Director and District Sales Manager to develop a local strategy and business plan to generate recognizable increases of sales in your territory. You will capitalize on formulary approvals and other opportunities through effective implementation of the Strategic Targeting Plans, using a wide variety of promotional, personnel resources and analytical tools to enhance effectiveness in your assigned territory, based on a local assessment of customer needs.
You will provide special education to healthcare providers through appropriate programs that fall within AstraZeneca's ethical guidelines. Work with other Pharmaceutical Sales Specialists around common objectives to coordinate selling efforts.
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least two years of documented, full‑time, successful pharmaceutical sales OR 3 years sales experience in a scientific/clinical/healthcare environment OR demonstrated experience and knowledge within healthcare ecosystems
- A valid driver's license and safe driving record
- (NOTE – For Internal applicants) Required to have met PSS Level (Level
2) at time of application
- Knowledge of the medical, healthcare or pharmacy industry and skills in clinical research
- Experience calling on Respiratory Specialists such as Pulmonologists and Allergists
- Experience calling on health systems and large group practices
- Demonstrated effective leadership, organization and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated judgment and decision‑making capability
- Results‑oriented with demonstrated time‑management skills
- Ability to learn, analyze, understand and convey complex information
- Respiratory Sales experience

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $ – $. Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives—an opportunity to receive short‑term incentive bonuses, equity‑based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles.
