Delaware Adolescent Program, Inc. (DAPI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering pregnant and parenting teens and young adults to achieve educational success, economic self-sufficiency, and healthy family outcomes. Through a comprehensive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach, DAPI removes barriers that often prevent young parents from completing their education and reaching their full potential.
DAPI's services are designed to address the unique challenges faced by pregnant and parenting youth. Participants receive individualized case management, academic advocacy, life skills development, parenting education, workforce readiness support, and resource referrals. Staff work closely with students to develop personalized success plans that promote educational attainment, personal growth, and family stability.
A cornerstone of the program is helping young parents remain engaged in school and on track for graduation. DAPI staff collaborate with educators, counselors, and families to identify barriers to attendance and academic performance while connecting students with the supports needed to remain enrolled and make progress toward their educational goals. By promoting school completion, DAPI helps break cycles of poverty and creates pathways to post-secondary education, career training, and meaningful employment.
DAPI also recognizes that strong parenting skills contribute to positive outcomes for both young parents and their children. Through evidence-informed parenting education and coaching, participants learn about child development, positive discipline techniques, nurturing parent-child relationships, health and safety practices, and strategies to support their children's social and emotional growth. These services strengthen family bonds and promote healthy early childhood development.
